With frequent conversations about AI, celebrity culture, identity, and social media, it comes as no surprise that “authentic” was crowned Merriam-Webster’s 2023 Word of the Year. With Taylor Swift splashed on all the pages for her Eras Tour and journey in finding her “authentic self,” the online dictionary saw a rise in the search for the word’s definition as many wanted to do the same.

Taking a page from Taylor’s book and shifting our gaze to the event planning industry, authenticity has become a vital factor and one of the most requested program elements. It isn't just a buzzword (although it does have a pretty nice ring to it); it's the secret sauce that transforms the ordinary into extraordinary. It's about being genuine, real, and true to your brand's values, culture, and identity.
