The Empty Shelf Cocktail

By Jamie Lamorandier, Sales Manager

You’ve likely participated in or have been invited to a virtual happy happy over the last few weeks – which is fabulous.  But being quarantined is forcing people to look in their liquor cabinets and use bottles they might not typically grab. Maybe that means Campari for some of you. Below are a few quick ideas for using up that bottle in the tastiest way possible.

The Classic Negroni:

  • 1 oz. Gin*
  • 1 oz. Campari
  • 1 oz. Sweet Vermouth

Stir and strain into cocktail glass over ice, garnish with orange

*Not a gin drinker? Swap it out for mezcal!

Variation – Negroni Sbagliato (means ‘messed up’ in Italian!)

  • 1 oz. Gin*
  • 1 oz. Campari
  • 1 oz. Sparkling Wine

– Combine vermouth and Campari in an ice-filled glass. Top with sparkling wine, stir to combine and garnish with an orange slice.

Still have more Campari to use? Try my current obsession…

  • 1 oz Campari
  • 1-1.5 oz. Bourbon
  • 1 oz Sweet Vermouth

Stir with ice and strain into glass.  I like to serve this one up with a cherry.

All of the above could be made with Aperol instead of Campari too!  Enjoy!
