About ACCESS Palm Springs

The Palm Springs Desert Resorts is a sophisticated world of unforgettable hotels, legendary golf courses, gourmet restaurants and first class attractions in the heart of southern California's desert region. This charming, low-key paradise features eight distinctive cities.

Downtown Palm Springs, with its mid-century architecture, takes us back to Hollywood's glamorous heyday. Here, countless restaurants, shops and attractions such as the world famous Palm Springs Aerial Tramway make for captivating destination management programs. To the north, Desert Hot Springs provides spas and resorts with the healing powers of steaming mineral waters.

To the east, Cathedral City, home of Big League Dreams ballpark, is enjoying a dramatic downtown renaissance. Nearby are the lushly landscaped estates of Rancho Mirage, site of the world-renowned Eisenhower Medical Center and the city's newest addition, The River, a water-featured multi-entertainment complex. Rancho Mirage, the "Playground of the Presidents," is home to Frank Sinatra's infamous desert compound.

Palm Desert offers blocks of stylish boutiques, salons, restaurants and galleries along upscale El Paseo Drive, the "Rodeo Drive of the Desert." The unparalleled Living Desert Reserve & Botanical Gardens is perfect for special events and 25+ golf courses earn the city its moniker "fairway to heaven."

Further east is affluent Indian Wells, site of some of the valley's best-known resorts and the 16,000-seat Indian Wells Tennis Gardens. Indian Wells shares the beauty of the picturesque Santa Rosa Mountains with La Quinta (the "Gem of the Desert") where Arnold Palmer operates his namesake restaurant. Both cities are major destinations for golfers worldwide who dream of playing on courses featured in the annual Bob Hope Chrysler Classic and The Skins Game.

Capping the edge of the Palm Springs Desert Resorts is Indio, nicknamed "The City of Festivals" for its many nationally-recognized festivals and fairs. Fact: 90 percent of the nation's dates are Indio-grown and harvested.

Perpetually sunny, the Palm Springs Desert Resorts boast over 280 properties (18,000+ rooms); 132 golf courses; 600 tennis courts; 30,000 pools; 772 diverse restaurants; a spacious state-of-the-art convention center; and unlimited recreation (hiking, biking & horseback riding in the Indian Canyons, bi-plane or hot air balloon rides, jeep tours on the San Andreas Fault Line and an unforgettable 7,000' journey to the top of the Palm Springs Aerial Tram.) For a one-of-a-kind corporate event, consider a private polo exhibition match with interactive golf cart polo, a private dinner on stage or at an exclusive celebrity estate. With our connections, the DMC team at ACCESS will create unparalleled special events for your destination management programs with a magical desert backdrop.

Sunnylands
Sunnylands was the 200-acre Rancho Mirage estate built in 1963 by Ambassador Walter and Leonore Annenberg. The estate includes 12 man-made lakes, an 18-hole golf course with nine greens and hundreds of eucalyptus trees, olive trees and oleanders. Beyond the 25,000 square-foot midcentury modern house are the soaring San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains. The Annenbergs entertained seven United States Presidents, British Royalty, international political figures, and cultural and entertainment icons at Sunnylands.

In November 2011, Sunnylands will be a 215-acre public attraction that incorporates a historic mid-century modern house with its cultural landscape and accompanying golf course. A conference education & interpretive center with desert garden and solar farm, show committment to 21st-century environmental sustainability technology. The new Sunnylands will be opened to the public as a historic house museum as well as a site for retreats and summits.

The Annenberg Center will provide a range of public programs and educational exhibits. Visitors can examine the exhibits placing Sunnylands in the context of an architectural movement called California modernism. View the orientation film in the theater and engage with the interactive multimedia kiosks that will bring Sunnylands, its residents, its heritage, and its context alive. Relax in the Great Room with its spectacular view of Mt. San Jacinto.

Outdoor activities include exploring the unique nine-acre garden that uses desert plants to paint a living canvas while consuming a minimal amount of water. Interpretive materials will also explain the ways in which solar panels and geo-thermal systems will supply energy for this LEED Silver project. A variety of tours of the historic house and grounds will be offered by pre-registration in addition to lectures, classes, family programs and Desert Garden tours.
