ACCESS and the Hospitality Industry Give Back
ACCESS has designed a national CSR initiative we call ACCESS Operation GIVE. Several times a year, ACCESS team members across the country work together with Hospitality Industry partners in their communities to give back through fundraisers, toy drives, awareness projects and other CSR events.
New Haven Youth and Family Services
The ACCESS team identified a beneficiary organization, New Haven Youth and Family Services, whose focus is building positive futures for troubled adolescents, their families, and the community. Approximately 40 high level corporate executives teamed up with 25+ youth and the entire facility staff in an enterprising refurbishment project for their Center which was greatly in need of classroom repair, supplies, technological upgrades, sports field equipment, and cosmetic enhancements.
Military Home Makeover
ACCESS developed “Extreme Military Makeover,” where 70+ volunteers came to the aid of a young military spouse who found herself unable to keep up with home maintenance while her husband was deployed on his third tour of Iraq. She was only told that she and her three children were being treated to a trip to Legoland for the day. While they were gone, the attendee volunteers replaced fences, landscaped the lawn, caulked, painted and built shelves, making a huge difference to the comfort and pride of this family home.
Strikes for Tykes Bowling Tournaments
ACCESS Destination Services has teamed up with its hospitality industry partners across the country to launch a series of nationwide bowling tournaments benefiting local communities. Throughout the summer ACCESS offices across the country hold individual bowling tournaments to raise funds and supplies for local charities and schools.
Ronald McDonald House
ACCESS united local hospitality members for a day of charitable giving at the Ronald McDonald House of San Diego, preparing the new facility for move-in and demonstrating the value of CSR (corporate social responsibility) events as conference and meeting inclusions. This facility provides a home-away-from-home for families whose children are being treated for potentially life-threatening illnesses at area hospitals. Teams, representing the San Diego Convention Center, San Diego Convention & Visitors’ Bureau and over 20 area hotels participated in this very special give-back event.
ACCESS Toy Drive
For the past 15 years, the ACCESS team has “adopted” area Head Start classes as beneficiaries of an internal holiday toy drive. Each year we’ve collected, wrapped and delivered new toys for the boys and girls enrolled in Head Start who may not otherwise be receiving presents for Christmas. With Santa in tow, this day has always been the highlight of the holiday season for our team as we join the children for songs and celebration with Santa in their classrooms.
