Supporting our Troops through CSR Programming!
For many reasons it makes a lot of sense to incorporate CSR teambuilding activities as cornerstone events during your conferences and incentive travel programs. The decision to do so is easily arrived at because events that give back are rewarding to participants, your organization and to the local communities in which they take place. What is not always so easy is deciding upon the perfect event - one that is current, relevant and that complements your company goals and attendee profiles. That's where the team at ACCESS Destination Services shines as your local destination management resource. As a pioneer in developing and producing socially responsible programs we can make the activity selection process a whole lot easier by targeting event styles and beneficiaries to match your vision, timing, group size/profile and budget.
When a client of the ACCESS San Diego team wanted to add a teambuilding event to an upcoming program, our first step was working with our client to determine the type of teambuilder that best matched this client's goals. As a departure from their "traditional" teambuilding focus, together we determined that a community service project was the perfect project to "change things up" and offer something new for the attendees - something that would make a difference!
With "Extreme Military Makeover," 70+ attendee volunteers came to the aid of a young military spouse who found herself unable to keep up with home maintenance while her husband was deployed on his third tour of Iraq. Attendees replaced fences, landscaped the lawn, caulked, painted and built shelves making a huge difference to the comfort and pride of this family. A casual dinner was planned that evening where attendees shared stories and celebrated the day's success. By selecting "Extreme Military Makeover" we were able to complement the patriotic theme of another ACCESS-planned evening at the Officers' Club on an active area military base where the proceeds from hosted events contribute to better base services and quality of life for our service men and women and their families.
Supporting our troops with "We Care" packages is another way to contribute morale and provide assistance to our men and women in the armed forces. The ACCESS Palm Springs team shares a recent program where corporate attendees filled individual boxes with provisions such as shampoo, socks, DVDs and CDs, combs and brushes, candy, magazines and other daily incidentals packaged up with accompanying personal notes. Following the day's teambuilding event, this group enjoyed a tie-in themed evening event produced by ACCESS at a local air and space museum, dedicated to America's veterans and the planes they flew. The museum's aircraft exhibits provided the perfect backdrop for this fun evening complete with patriotic decor, USO show and a high energy dance band - the perfect way to celebrate a rewarding give-back afternoon. Additional options are available to further enhance the community service components of this program.

Livin' it Up at L.A. Live - Project Update: Second Phase! L.A. Live's Nokia Theatre was recently in the spotlight as the event site for the explosive American Idol Finals - but that's not all that's going on at L.A. Live, the world-class sports and entertainment destination. Second phase project openings in this mixed-use, 27-acre development reinforce L.A. Live as the leading entertainment destination for all of Los Angeles and as the event capital of the world hosting the GRAMMYs, EMMYs, American Music Awards, ESPYs and hundreds of other events.

Club Nokia, a 59,000 square-foot club with state-of-the-art acoustics, accommodates upwards of 2,300 guests and is the perfect venue for emerging musical acts and cultural shows while also providing excellent space for corporate events. Third Phase (late 2009): During this time frame, we will welcome the premiere of the West coast flagship for Regal Cinemas at L.A. Live with its 14 screens. With its close proximity to the convention center and headquarters hotel meeting and ballroom spaces, it is expected that the theaters might be utilized during the day for corporate presentations and break-out space.
The final phase (early 2010) will bring the soaring, 54-story, 878-room JW Marriott Hotel and the 123-room Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Los Angeles to life along with the Ritz-Carlton Residences at L.A. Live. Operated as two entities under The Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott brands, the hotels will serve the convention, group meeting and tourist market as well as headline performers, visiting sports teams and executives.
