Big Hair is back! The Tony-Award winning musical, “Hairspray”, Broadway’s “Big, Fat Gorgeous Hit” is coming to the Luxor Theater in February 2006. Set in Baltimore in 1962, “Hairspray” is the story of plain-jane Tracy Turnblad, who is going to do whatever it takes to dance her way onto TV's most popular show. Can a big girl with big dreams - and even bigger hair - turn the whole town around? She gets her chance on the Corny Collins Show, a local TV dance program based on the real-life Buddy Dean Show in Baltimore, and becomes a celebrity overnight. Based on John Waters’ hilarious film, the musical comedy features an original score by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman (who co-wrote the music and lyrics for the acclaimed animated musical, "South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut"). The stage adaptation was first presented at Seattle’s Fifth Avenue Theatre before arriving in New York City in 2002. “Hairspray” won the Tony Award for Best Musical (along with 7 other Tony Awards) in 2003.
Named after Upper Egypt's most exotic tourist destination, Luxor Resort & Casino stands 30 stories tall and is topped by one of the world's brightest beams of light. With 4,467 rooms and 120,000 square feet of casino space, Luxor Resort & Casino is the second largest hotel in the United States. This entertainment destination features a wide variety of first-rate entertainment, award-winning restaurants and state-of-the-art gaming.

Legendary Hollywood Soundstage Announces Re-launch! The Henson Soundstage, originally built by Charlie Chaplin in 1917, and former home of A&M Records, has announced an exciting re-launch in an effort to become the venue of choice for all forms of creative entertainment.
One of Hollywood’s premier locations for film, music video, commercial shoots, event production, and star-studded galas, this vintage soundstage on The Jim Henson Company lot adds authentic nostalgia and the perfect backdrop to a range of private and corporate events. The Henson Soundstage is a 7,500 square foot historical landmark featuring independent fly rails and a permanent cyclorama. Guests will enjoy such features as: red carpet arrivals, on site security, secure private parking, food and beverage facilities, private dressing rooms, including one large “green room”, and a private screening room for up to 30 people. The flexible stage and picturesque courtyard can accommodate large numbers. Guests can gather in the same location where Chaplin created such masterpieces as “The Great Dictator”. In 1961 CBS purchased the studio and filmed the classic “Perry Mason” TV series, starring Raymond Burr and in 1969 the Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Board designated the studio as a historical cultural monument. Since 1999 the studio has been home to The Jim Henson Company, creators of some of the world’s best loved characters and fantasy creatures.
“The Henson Soundstage provides an environment that inspires creativity for a variety of industries,” says Joe Henderson, The Henson Company’s vice president of administration. “It’s our goal to continue giving high-quality client service, to ensure privacy when necessary, and support high-exposure events as requested.”

Santa Ana: Face Lift for the former County Seat! The revitalization of downtown Santa Ana, considered by some to be Orange County’s only true urban area, has been stunning. Areas that were less than desirable a decade ago are now bustling with music, arts, and restaurants. The city, whose motto is “A Place for Art”, has worked to re-face and re-energize the downtown by bringing in arts and entertainment. Artists Village in the museum district makes its home in several historic buildings which house theaters, restaurants, dance companies and studios.
Other areas of interest in Santa Ana include the Bowers Museum, one of Southern California’s first museums and Orange County’s largest, promoting human understanding through art. Main Place Shopping Center features 190 stores and 19 dining options. The Ronald Reagan Federal Building, nominated for the Presidential Design Awards, has become a catalyst in the revitalization of downtown Santa Ana.
For your next special event, consider the recently renovated Santa Ana Performing Arts and Event Center with its canopied entrance, leaded glass doors and glamorous lobby. This historic venue boasts alabaster chandeliers, hand-carved woodwork, marble floors, a dramatic grand ballroom and a variety of additional event areas, each perfect for its own “theme within a theme” – great for a Golden Days of Hollywood theme with a mix of movie representations. This venue has it all: reasonable travel time from most area hotels, plenty of seating, flow potential from one unique themed area to another and a historically significant past! Stroll down memory lane with ACCESS Destination Services at the Santa Ana Performing Arts and Event Center.
