TEAMBUILDING…FROM OUR TEAM TO YOURS!
Teambuilding events are powerful motivators within any conference or convention setting. Let the energetic team at ACCESS Destination Services generate business value for your company through design and successful implementation of a dynamic teambuilding activity for your next program in the Western United States.
From program design through end results we enjoy the thrill of a teambuilding event appropriately matched to your goals. Perhaps this is due to where we live – our destination cities offer the natural resources to support any teambuilding project. These resources include great year-round weather, sand for Beach Olympics or Sandcastle Building, award-winning attractions for Clue Hunts or Amazing Races, and water for Sailing Regattas and Boat Building to name a few, but we cannot overlook the fact that working with our clients on teambuilding events brings us closer to our goal of developing on-going professional relationships with our clients through a better understanding and appreciation of our clients’ business goals and objectives.
We invite you to share your teambuilding goals with us for your next program so that we can put our creativity to work for you. For “Ice Breakers” consider offering guests the craft components to create wild and wacky hats and headgear or hold a team Rock Star karaoke event with real musicians for added effect, or perhaps interactive drumming with handmade djembe drums to bring out the collective talent of your guests. “Pure Fun Teambuilding” might include a Sailing Regatta, Casino Event or “Celebrity” Poker Tournament with team versus individual scoring. Examples of “Challenge Events” include the ACCESS Amazing Race, a GPS Navigation Challenge, Boot Camp or a Game Show that incorporates unique elements of your company or industry. A custom-designed karting course also satisfies the often-expressed “need for speed” and is a sure hit with attendees. Commenting on a recent corporate karting event in Palm Springs, ACCESS Partner Barb Smith, DMCP, stated, “There was a sense of competition and camaraderie and the event created quite a buzz throughout the remainder of the meeting.”
If your objective is to create something tangible for your company or business unit, perhaps a logo designing competition is in order or banner messaging which draws from the artistic talents of your guests while also serving as “décor” for a business session or evening event. Teambuilding goals can also be supported through creative meeting locations. An obligatory meeting can evolve into a fun and high energy event through the consideration of logistics such as holding the meeting at a museum’s or attraction’s theater which then sets the stage for an interactive themed event at that locale.
Whatever your goals might be, the team at ACCESS Destination Services is here to help transform your wishes into reality.

Orange County
The Oval Office in the Sky has arrived! With much pomp and circumstance, the President’s Helicopter, easily the most photographed helicopter in history, has arrived at the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace for permanent display where visitors can see how Presidents traveled in luxury and security aboard one of the most exclusive aircrafts ever made.
The Flying Oval Office for Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Ford is a million-dollar, six-ton Sikorsky Sea King, retired from White House Service in 1976, and subsequently used for training Presidential Secret Service Agents. This vintage 1961 aircraft holds an important place in aviation and political history as it does in the history of President Nixon.
For your next corporate event, partner with ACCESS Destination Services for a truly unique “Presidential Evening” at the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace. Your event begins while guests await departure from your hotel as they begin to notice uniformed Secret Service Agents (actors) quietly conducting surveillance of the premises and communicating through their in-sleeve microphones and earpieces. The drama continues as guests gather in the group departure area, where a uniformed motorcycle motorcade, scheduled to lead our motorcoaches, is flanked by a bevy of agents and actual police escorts. As a refuge from the intended commotion, each of our motorcoaches is stocked with ice waters and champagne.
With a red carpet arrival, guests are greeted in Presidential fashion with uniformed trumpeters and active color guardsmen in a presentation of the American Flag. During a reception in the Presidential Rose Garden, guests may view exhibits. Docents are on hand to answer questions and for tours of President Nixon’s birthplace and childhood home. A regal dining experience is in store in the new East Room, with a breathtaking table display including presidential place-settings with menu cards featuring a printed Presidential Seal. A delightful band plays background music during dinner and later turns up the tempo. This event is perfect for an incomparably upscale function, yet can also be reconfigured as a more casual evening complete with historic components.
Contact the Orange County office of ACCESS Destination Services for your next site inspection or to discuss destination management needs on your next Orange County program.
Palm Springs
Lions and Tigers and…Hummers? What do big cats and Hummer H2s have in common? They are components of the latest exciting Palm Springs area excursion. If you are looking for a VIP tour or optional activity that is truly out of the ordinary, consider a Photo Safari that brings your guests face-to-face with a variety of exotic cats including two Siberian Tigers – the largest cats on the planet, all the while enjoying the comforts of luxury, air-conditioned, Hummer H2, all-terrain vehicles, complete with OnStar navigational systems and knowledgeable guides.
Upon arrival at an 80 acre reserve, the “greeting committee” – two golden Asian leopards welcome each of the Hummers as they approach. Guests will certainly enjoy the photo opportunities presented with the frolicking golden Asian leopards and their companions – two Siberian tigers and a black leopard. Following the photo shoot, which also includes a “Tiger Splash” session, guests enjoy a delightful safari meal, on tables adorned with white linens and silverware while they continue to observe the animals running free in a large open area on the reserve. At the conclusion of the meal, a trainer will introduce another exotic cat – a caracal, serval, or lynx as a special surprise.
Kele Younger, owner of the reserve, began working with wild cats while she was a runway model. This experience led to her desire to own her own wild cats some of which have now been with her for over 15 years. Her collection of exotic cats is known in the film industry, in television and in print. Her tigers recently appeared on an episode of a new comedy, “The Loop” in an episode entitled “Tiger Express” while the leopards choose to express themselves in magazines – Glamour and Elle most recently.
Allow the team at ACCESS Palm Springs to introduce you to this hot new desert activity, sure to bring a smile to the faces of your guests and photo opportunities not to be missed.

San Diego
Update: The Electric Gaslamp Quarter! San Diego’s multi-block Gaslamp Quarter is considered the historic heart of San Diego. The last decade has witnessed the transformation of the Gaslamp from a downtown concentration of nice restaurants to a sizzling, hip urban mecca – without a doubt, the place to see and be seen in San Diego!
Over 90 eateries of all types now occupy the locale, however dining isn’t all there is to do in the Gaslamp Quarter where one can also shop in chic urban boutiques, visit a fine arts gallery, enjoy a hand rolled cigar, play billiards, take in the theater, sip a gourmet coffee or the perfect martini, or dance the night away at the upscale night-time “restaurant + nightlife” hot spots.
2006 marked the premiere of two of these hot spots on the grand scale; great venues for your next San Diego program. Let the ACCESS San Diego team share with you the best usage of the venue space for your group size, whether you desire a buy-out, private area, restaurant dining or VIP space.
Stingaree, a three story, 22,000 square foot venue is housed in a historic warehouse in the Red Light District of bygone days. This multi-million dollar facility features a floor-to-ceiling waterfall, roof top cabanas, fire pit and VIP lounge, oversized kitchen and multiple “venue within a venue” options. Among those options are the 2500 square foot, second floor Mezzanine Lounge, across the catwalk, with its contemporary orange décor accents, booth and lounge seating and private bar. The exclusive Penthouse luxury suite accommodates an intimate sized group in complete privacy with its own bar. Following dinner, turn it up a notch at the Nightclub at Stingaree, outfitted with the finest sound and lighting technology, and considered one of the nation’s hottest dance spots.
Also of note in 2006, was the grand opening of belo, touted as San Diego’s only true “superclub” in the mold of Crobar (Chicago, New York, Miami) and Ministry of Sound (London). Situated under the Gaslamp, belo is 20,000+ square feet of hot, ultra-chic décor situated throughout three different rooms – each with its own special ambiance. The 60’s inspired décor is described as both retro and post-modern cool, and is complemented by state-of-the-art sound and lighting, plasma TVs and murals enhancing the nightclub scene.
Both of these exciting venues represent the next generation of Gaslamp nightlife and ACCESS Destination Services is here to create the sizzle for you at a unique private event at one or more of San Diego’s red hot new venues!
